Stainless Steel--worth the search, February 28, 2012 By pencil and pen name "bkbinder" (Bay Area, Calif.) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Oyama All Stainless Steel 7 Cup Rice Cooker / Warmer (White) To make a long story short, first I'll give you the positive selling points in summary: 1) healthy alternative to aluminum or non-stick surfaces 2) easy to clean (inner pot, steamer and removable inner lid) 3) snap-shut sealed cover (no dripping) -note: there's an ingenious, removable little drip catcher feature I just discovered near the hinge 4) 3 sizes available: 5, 7 & 10-cup 5) good experience with the seller (can reach by phone or email)

I make rice 5 days a week and unhappy using the "inevitable" non-stick pots in nearly all rice cookers---even in the "look-at-the-fancy-features-on-video" expensive ones. I almost bought a stainless steel Canadian brand (but ran across unfavorable reviews). I was about to give up.

oyama stainless steel rice cooker, February 9, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Oyama All Stainless Steel 7 Cup Rice Cooker / Warmer (White) because the overwhelming majority of reports were favorable, i decided to purchase the oyama 7 cup rice cooker mainly because it has a stainless steel inner cooking pot. i don't think it works any better than the previous one, a zibane, but the latter has a nonstick surface. nonstick surfaces peel or erode giving a teflon dose. teflon has been known to be toxic for at least 50 years. one reviewer said the cooker gave a peculiar odor, in my opinion this is from the heating element. i have not detected an odor in the rice or in the "rubberized" seal at the top. also, the same reviewer noted a red discoloration. all of the faberware stainless steel cookware develops this color. this appears to be oxidized iron and contrary to reports on the internet can not be easily removed. i view this as stain resistant cooking ware rather than stainless. also, i have no idea if this reflects the clad bottom. presumably there is copper or aluminum inside, but i have no information on this...
